SDL exists to provide Riverchase UMC an alternative style of worship from the traditional Methodist approach found in the sanctuary. It's not that we have a problem with traditional worship, we just don't think it fits exactly who we are. We are Christ centered through who we are and this is how it expresses itself. We are "contemporary" in the sense that we have a band with guitars, drums, etc. We are "contemporary" in the sense that dress is casual, the atmosphere is casual, and we never take ourselves too seriously. But we are not contemporary in that you will rarely find drama or "boomer" praise music at SDL. But hey, we do enjoy praising God and encouraging one another in Christian fellowship. Our mission is "To grow, make and be disciples of Jesus Christ." and that is our purpose.
